Recorded outgoing announcement declared:
We are sorry to inform you that your Mastercard has been lost. Press 1 to speak to our security department or something similar.
When I did not respond the call disconnected.
You may have been subjected to something like scam #24, as described at
http://phonehelp.2truth.com/facts.html
That site also shows how other 800notes visitors have reduced the number of telephone scams and telemarketing calls they receive. (And, a link to Amazon's phone blocker devices and apps is there).
Got a call today from this number at 09:46AM Chicago Time. The automated voice said that my master card has been locked. Press 1 to reactivate and 2 to cancel. I tried 1 and it asked me to enter my 16 digit credit card number. Looked very suspicious so I didn't enter any anything. It didn't say which credit card company (I have 2 matercards) and didn't specify why it had been cancelled. Also there was no option to talk to a customer service agent.
My wife received a call to her cell from this number at 9pm Saturday night and I received a call at 7:15am to my separate cell on Sunday morning. No message left either time.
