Received a voicemail from this number saying I was PRE approved for loan in the out of $5000. To $25,000. I google the phone number before I did anything else after listening to the vm.
He called and said he was with one of company I filled out a loan application on line.....he had a very garbled English and a strong overseas Indian accent....he's still calling me now.....he had me go to Walmart to buy cash cards iTunes to the amount of 340$.....then don't tell anyone what I'm doing for my safety .....then I had to go back to my car and read the codes on the back of each card....the whole time I kept asking is this is real or are you scamming me....he said he was with Quick cash loans from what I could understand his name was Sam.....then I asked him why I was sending him more than the 100$ he had asked for at the beginning.....my bank account was at -217$ so he said I have to cover your bank account so it's not negative......after I did all that he says he still needs 350$ more by the next day.....he said I needed to pay that to get my loan going....then I'd had enough .....,... I told him to go to hell that he was a scammer.....he then told me he will call me in the morning that I had to have that 350$ or my loan wouldn't go through.....he left me texts and called several times.....the messages are some lady saying have a good day....
Sorry to hear you got scammed. It's a common one and has been going around for awhile. Originates usually in India and Pakistan. You should change out any financial account numbers . It looks as if they have your banking information.
Please read and memorize the following:
Things to remember about loans offered by phone or e-mail: (Pay attention to item #4!)
Loans
1. No reputable lender will lend you money over the phone.
2. No reputable lender will lend you money by e-mail
3. On-line lenders are nothing more than conduits for another loan scam.
4. Advance fees for loans are always illegal. At least in most American states.
5. If you want to borrow money, go to an established brick and mortar lender that has been around awhile.
6. If you receive a call from someone with an Indian accent either a. threatening you or b. offering you something, you know it’s a scam and you should hang up immediately.
7. These people are predators, the calls are not random, they have information that they have bought from various sources and know your financial history. If you have ever taken out a pay-day loan, they have all your information. They know who they are calling. They like to pick on women, single mothers, the elderly and sometimes members of the immigrant community. Also, those who might be in financial difficulty.
