Just received the call & message. Indian man stating his name was Steve Martin. He never said who he was calling for? He said that he was calling in regards to an enforcement action executed by the US Treasury and that failing to respond would mean having to appear before a magistrate judge and/or a grand jury for a Federal, criminal offense. He stated that is it advised to cooperate with them so that they can help?
Yeaaaaa riiiiight-Could this be any more fake!? Egads-I really hate these low life, scum sucking, scammers. I wish there was someway to find & prosecute these people although I know they are hiding out in some boiler room call center in Calcutta. Banchut!

Got a call on my cell phone.A message was left claiming the same thing,that if I didn't call back Iwould go before a magistrate for crimes against the IRS.This Steve Martin is for the birds.I called back and it went to voicemail then said the mailbox is full
SAME AS ABOVE, THEY SAID WERE THE IRS AND THAT I OWN MONEY. I REPLY WITH THE WRONG NAME AND THEY STILL WANTED TO TALK. THEY SAIDED I WOULD BE ARRESTED WITHIN 45 MINUTES IF DIDNT COOPERATED WITH THEM. THEY SAID THEY WERE THE US TREASURY DEPARTMENT-THAT WHEN I ASKED WHAT PART? HE STATED AGAIN IRS. IRS COLLECTION IN THE MIDWEST I THINK KANAS OR MISSOURI. PLUS 786 IS NOT AN IRS NUMBER IN FLORIDA. PLUS THEY DIDNT KNOW THE LOCAL OFFICE NUMBER FOR THE IRS IN VA.
There is an IRS or "tax scam" being practiced by scammers on both Canadian and USA residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.
