By opting to be removed from the list all you are really doing is confirming your number. I would be surprised if you don't getting more calls from different scammers by the end of the year.
They use fake numbers all the time, that and fake messages. It's like being called by collections, except they are out to steal money. Your number gets sold and resold to anyone that will buy it, and as long as it's a working number, they will keep calling.
