Just got a call also. Called I.D. said it was the Red Cross. I didn't pick up because I've gotten phoney ID displays before. Also didn't leave a message. So I called them back and got a recording that it was, indeed, the Red Cross #, BUT, the recording said it was a dead Red Cross #! These scammers, telemarketers, or collection agencies, (I think it is the latter), find legit #'s that are no longer in use or have been disconnected and somehow confiscate the real agency's ID so that you will pick up! I used to get them and my ID said it was from the Univ. of Utah!!! No way, would they be calling me. But when I did pick up, they asked if a certain person lived here!? I've cussed them out and told them there has NEVER been such a person living here. They say they'll take me off their list....then it all starts over in a few months. I've blocked that #, so now they are calling under a defunct Red Cross #. I'm sure some deadbeat gave them a made-up phone # and it just happened to be mine!
