I received a call from "Brandon" who told me that my PC was badly affected by some hackers and it would be crashed the next day. He said he will help to fix my PC and sounds very helpful until I told him that I will call him tomorrow after my PC crashes to get help.
After I hung up the phone, he called me back to say "your computer will crash"..sounds like a threat to me.
All of the above is exactly what we experienced. They have repeatedly been calling our house every few hours. We would sure like to block them but we do have this service from Verizon. Any ideas?
16 January 2012: A "Brandon" just called me and went through the whole "your computers infected routine". Interesting---by dumb luck---I had the local computer shop upgrade my computer THIS MORNING with Windows7 and a new Hard Drive. I just got the computer back about two hours ago. That didn't stop the "pitch" to get me to hook up to their scanners. Interesting: Brandon promised the scanners would only look at "the Windows" portion of my hard drive and nothing else; Brandon might have thought I've just fallen off the turnip truck. He would not answer -openly- questions I put to him. My impression is it's one hell of a big scam and data-mining operation. If they can't answer the questions truthfully (I ask how the weather was in Salt Lake City, and Park City----and he couldn't answer it). Maybe someone from MICROSOFT should look into this---since they use the name MICROSOFT over and over and over.
Got a call from 206-456-0661,A caller named Brandon(heavy Indian accent) stated he was from microtech and I had several problems that were reported to Microsoft. He wanted me to enter an access code 537615 to a remote server. I declined and asked what was the phone # that I could call back to see who would answer and he gave me the # 801-512-0605 and stated that there would be someone there for another 15 minutes so to call right away. I never made the return call
Be wary!!!
i just got the same call from barndon stating that he has received error messages from my computer and that in the last week 1.6 million computers have been infected with software that will crash my system???
