Got a call from this #, saying the government is offering 5000.00 to people that qualify to upgrade certain aspects of their home, to help in the energy crisis! I was asked which power co. I pay a power bill to, and anyone in Utah knows that there is only one company. I was told they would come to my house for a free survey to see if I qualify. You have to own a home and you have to be current on all your debts. At the time of the free assessment you have to show them 3 of your bills. I called the power company on a hunch that this was a scam, only after searching the name on the caller id and finding it to be a well rounded SLC Law firm, Davis Halson & Benjamin. The power company said they knew nothing of any "green" company that was in cahoots with them doing any energy saving survey's or giving away cash no strings attached. This is a scam DO NOT LET THEM IN YOUR HOME!!! I don't know what they will do!
Got the "pre-appointment" call. Was from Green Monster in Arizona. This is not a real scam but don't fall for the hype. They want to sell you a $2000 solar water heater for $10,000. Tax credit might be 30% and there are local incentives as well but best case scenario you will spend at least $5000. My water heater costs me about $20 a month. It would take me at least 28 years to pay for it even if it covered 100% of my water needs. First call was a local Utah number (caller id was the Salt Lake Law Firm - probably an old number). This, most likely, would not violate the "no-call" list but the call from Arizona definitely did. I welcomed the caller to go ahead and let the rep come today but it would be to sign a statement certifying that they had violated the no-call list. The caller was friendly but we agreed the rep shouldn't come.
We are registered with the NATIONAL DO NOT CALL registry list. Apparently that doesn't matter because we keep receiving unwanted phone solicitation calls with the latest being from ESA, Energy Savings Alliance, phone #656-1247 no area code listed. And yes, even though they say that it is not a telemarketing (solicitation) call, it really is. We adhere strictly to our policy of not patronizing companies with any future business who have called us with phone solicitations. I don't think these companies realize that it closes the door for any future business with them because we remember the solicitation, the lack of their respect for our request not to be bothered, and the wasting of time trying to get it stopped. We would like to find a permanent solution to end phone solicitation calls to our home phone as well as our mobiles. We want to use our phones for communication, not commercials! Any suggestions?
As mentioned in previous posts, the calls coming from this number are from Energy Savings Alliance (ESA) in Arizona. Our firm (Davis, Halston & Benjamin - now Davis & Sanchez) used to own this telephone number over 3 years ago. We do not approve of this company using our firm's name in its caller id. We have NOTHING whatsoever to do with ESA or the unwanted calls you have been receiving and therefore have no power to stop ESA from calling. I have ordered them to remove my old firm's name from the caller id for this number and I wish you all the luck in getting ESA to stop calling you.
