I got a call at my parents' home..but I have NEVER been a Verizon customer. Not sure why they want to talk to me, but I don't have time to deal with these calls. I pressed '4' and hope they don't call me again.
This appears to be bill collector/ s from Verizon . They have ways to use area codes to deceive you. Plus they get away with using Verizon transmission. "Transmitting cell phone calls". New sneaky was to get people to answer. When you pick up, because its your area code not a 888,800 and so on. They will have a recording saying this is an important call for......if this is ....... Press 1 if you need to be placed on hold press 2 if you would like us to call back press 3 if this is not ..... Press and so on. Hope this helps . For a second I thought of transmission for cars nope . Did a revearse call look up. And researched the name. Sneaky bas......
Got a call from the number and it did go through the same process described above where the computer says my name, press 1 for... etc. I remained on the line, but it eventually hung up on me after keeping me on hold for a while.
However, although I AM a Verizon client, I do not owe them any money on my bill. It was paid in full right after my last statement and I just logged into my account to make sure of that.
So if this call is related to Verizon clients, it is not a collection call. It is either a sales call, or a scam. I wouldn't give them any information if they call you again.
I am sure the call is related to Verizon. I just switched my phone AND my phone number to a competitor that my son works for after being a faithful Verizon customer for 10 years and giving them, on average, $5,000 annually for our family plans. Once I dropped down to an individual plan I was getting charged $80 monthly for a 1Gb plan, so decided if Verizon couldn't provide me a lower cost alternative, I'd switch. I am sure the call is to try to "get my business back," which they won't. If they truly had appreciated my business, they would have thought to treat me better.
