I work as an accountant and we were just warned from the IRS about these calls. The IRS will never call you warning you this way. They will make initial communication by letter then if verbal communication is made they will have a badge number and must identify as an it's agent. These people are scamming people to call a secondary number with a "case" number and asking for bank information to transfer funds. The IRS would never do this please do not deal with these people. If you feel you may actually have an issue with the IRS Google the number for the IRS direct and speak to an agent or speak to your tax person to handle the issue.
Got a call from IRS and I need to contact this number. Not the first time I have had his call
I said I was born at night. But not last night. Be careful
Call message said they were from the IRS and it was a matter of GREAT URGENCY - um no you'd send something in the mail like you did when you were letting me know I was due more money
Received an automated voicemail this morning explaining there was illegal activity was flagged on my name at the IRS and to call them urgently. I called the number back and it went directly to a voicemail. The voicemail was a garbled male voice and he was speaking very fast, so I couldn't make out clearly what he was saying. He said his name was "Officer Shawn" something (couldn't make out last name) and them said something about leaving a message with name and number.
Obviously a scam. 1) The IRS would not contact someone by phone; 2) the call back number would go to a call center and automated message, not someone's personal message; 3) The IRS number would not be a local number. It would gove you a toll free number to call and a case number; 4) I see others that say they ask for personal info and say you owe back taxes. I do not owe any taxes, but if I did, I would be notified by mail, not via a personal number.
Neve give out personal information. There is not one goverment agency or bank that will ask for personal info over the phone or email. The IRS, privacy policy laws that ar

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
I got a call from this number. They left a automated message, saying my
