I got a text from someone saying that their sister needed help. It was the same message as someone had previously listed.
They also sent me the same email as the one posted about what they wanted me to do.
I sent them my info and they said that they would email me when they sent the payment. They just emailed me today and said this:
" I am sorry for the delay and how are you doing today? I just got a confirmation from my financier right now that the payment was mailed out and would be delivered at your address today via USPS mail service.....I was provided with the tracking number 9405501699320061968830.
The payment is in the amount of $3,900, kindly have it deposited at your bank today for the fund to be available within the next 24 working hour and then deduct your upfront payment of $400. I shall be providing you with further details on errands you would be running for us later this week. Kindly send me a message to confirm that you have deposited the check once received.
I received this email as well. I am a struggling college student who works at petsmart and on care.com. I emailed the lady but after reading your messages. I wonder if I did something terribly wrong. Can someone help clarify?
I received the same text and I thought it was a serious job. But once "nelly" had told me she will send a check of $3,900 and to deduct $400 I knew it was a scam. I went along with it and received the check in the mail yesterday and took it to ask the bank about it and they said it's a fake check. We could tell anyways bc of no watermark and if I looked closeLY I could see VOID dotted all over it. Also she told me she's coming from Australia but yet nellys # says new york, where it's mailed from says new York and the check is from a school in Tennessee. I know I won't cash this bc it will be fraud. But I want to find a way to stop this. I also called the school and they said they had received 4 other calls like that today. DEFINITELY A NUMBER TO NOT DEAL WITH!! AND THIS SO CALLED "NELLY PAYTON" IS A FAKE!!
