Called 6:00 on a sunday night. Left message on the machine because they thought someone had picked up. Couldn't understand some of the message but they said something like "Hello this is so and so calling from so and so associates and I would like to speak to a registered voter...... Anyone on the line?"
And they hung up.
Sad, but true - the "front-line grunts" you can actually talk to are just trying to get by. Usually, I'm the guy reminding people of that, but even I can sometimes forget in the "heat of the moment". It's their employers who are, generally, the scum of the earth, but getting one of THOSE dirt-bags on the phone is like pulling the proverbial hen's teeth....
I am going to block this number and report it to the DO NO CALL LIST I am registered with.
As probably everyone knows, but in case some don't, these solicitation or other annoying calls first call you with an automated system to see when you answer and when you are home. If they see that several times someone answers at 6 pm, then a live person calls at that time.
Best not to answer and let the voice mail pick it up if it is a legitimate call. Of course they NEVER leave a message.
