Called saying my December Discover Card payment did not post. I got online with them on the phone and checked my statement and it had posted. They said they needed to research further and asked for the routing number of my bank. That is when I got suspicious, because I told them they already had all of that information. She was good. She said her area did not have access to that information for security purposes. I told them I was calling Discover and she said that that was fine. Her name was Amber, and I should select option 3 to reach her dept.
Spoke with Discover and was told my account was fine. I gave them the number and they would turn it over to their internal security.

This is an unscrupulous collection agency, NOT associated with Discover Card. The best way to deal with these people is to block their phone number from being able to access your phone. Many phone services (I've used Optimum and Time-Warner) offer this service free of charge. They allow you to specify specific numbers from which you do not wish to receive calls, and also will block any calls coming from an unidentified phone number. A useful tip to keep from being annoyed. If they need to get you, they'll send a letter. (Which you can always deny having received unless it was sent certified mail).
