The way numerous collection co's and departments work is that once dq, your info is put into a queue and the computer calls you at predetermined intervals by the computer system. Once you pick up your phone the call is routed to a live person by the computer. This way they aren't paying people to just sit there and dial numbers all day. The best way to avoid it is to not answer private calls or unknown numbers on caller id. Discover is one of the only creditors I know that actually uses an area code of an actual state. Most will have an 866 number and at times an 800 number. I never pick up 866 or 800 numbers... I just see if they leave me a message.
801-902-3152 has been calling my cell phone for over a week...calling all day long....today they left a message and a number for call back.....i called and it is discover card...someone that i do not know gave my cell number as their home number.....i ask that my number be removed immediately as i do not know this person....they removed my cell number while i held on.....the number that i called to have my cell number removed is 1-800-347-3397......
I spoke to Discover Card's fraud dept and 801-902-3152 is Discover Card's Collection Dept and it is a legitimate number. You can contact 800-347-3723 which is the direct number for their fraud dept to confirm this information.
If you are recieving calls from the 801 number and have no Discover Card I'd strongly suggest contacting their fraud people. If that doesn't stop the calls, then I'd recomend contact your State Attorney General's Office and or the Consumer Protection Agency.
