I ask him to please don't call me any more ..His reply I will call you tomorrow.... I'm on the National do not call list but I get calls every day from solar companies
Another criminal 'Solar Energy' lead hunting pest.
Teresa launched into a standard sales pitch by starting with 'I'm not selling anything''.
When asked what company she was with, she claimed to be calling from "Solar Solutions", so I asked where she was calling from and she said HQ in Lakewood Fl, with affiliates all over the country.
Of course, Solar Solutions Lakewood does not exist, and she was calling from a spoofed Utah phone number.
When I tried to find out what list they got my name and number from, she would not answer.
I asked to be removed from their call list and she said she would (ha ha).
Then I asked what company her paycheck came from and she hung up.
Then of course they called back a couple days later.
Blocked now.
These pests robocall millions of people to try and get a 'free home solar energy evaluation' appointment - which they then sell to a local solar installer. They avoid giving enough information to enable a FCC or FTC complaint. When complaints do pile up the company 'evaporates' and reopens under a new name and fake number.
Many of them are located in Van Nuys, California and shill for A1 Solar.
- For those complaining about the DNC list - these are criminal calls so they don't care about the DNC list. However, you probably aren't getting calls from 'legitimate' telemarketers, and if you do they will actual remover your name from their call list. When I had two phones, I had one on the DNC and the other wasn't. All criminal scum on the DNC phone, both 'legitimate' telemarketing and scum on the other.
- For those wanting the phone company to 'do something' - they are required by law to put through all calls that appear legitimate to their system, and these calls do appear legitimate. Only Congress can help by changing the laws and enable/encourage/require phone companies to create 'blacklists', or stop phone number spoofing (which is currently legal and easy to do), or enable tracking of spoofed criminal calls to their source.
- The best we can do is try to get enough information to file legal claims. Or just set up call blocking - my AT&T system allows for easy number blocking.
Bill is right. The only answer is to get the phone companies to clean up this mess, hold there feet to the fire along with congress' and find a way to make it unprofitable for the scammers, congress and phone companies to continue this charade. I wonder what would happen if everyone paid their phone/internet bill one day later NOT late, but just a day later than usual, and continued each succeeding month paying another day later until the the phone/media companies realized how much they will be losing EVERY MONTH on float - the interest they get on their customer's bill payment $$ for every day they are paid earlier than due date. Might get their attention and give them a "preview of coming attractions" if they refuse to act.
Except for the fact that at some point you would incur late fees and they would make even more money. This sounds like the "don't buy gas for a week" plans that used to circulate trying to convince people that the gas companies would lose money.
