I put a living room set on Craigslist last night and they contacted me stating they want to buy my set. I asked where they were located because the area code was so unfamiliar and his/her response was "(1/3) will only able to make payments by certified check or Money Order. I will make arrangement for the pick-up after payment has been received and cleared in"
Figured it was a scam.....Thanks for posting, I just wanted to google this number to see if anything was on here and unfortunately it was!!!!
I got the same text message and the person that has been texting me has been very convincing that this isn't a scam. I recieved the check in the mail today and so i then called TD Banks, where the check is suppose to come out of and they have informed me that this is a fraudulant check and that the FBI have been involved. He had sent me close to a 2,000$ check and then asked me to take out what he owed for what he bought then asked me to wire the rest of the money to a seperate location.
Just thought this is kind of rediculous....
I posted on Craig's list and asked for calls only. I received text from 802-265-1059. SCAM! They are wanted by FBI. Do not call back or text. Report. From Indiana. Block the number from calls or text MSG
caller said they wanted to purchase the original, signed wood carving I have posted on craigslist, today, 1/5/13, around 1pm MST. But when I didn't hear anything after that, I dialed the number and said I was in poor cell service area and would expect a call or email for further instructions. They sent a text - actually 3 texts in succession and I immediately wrote my son an email to ask him since he uses craigslist a lot. He sent me the message informing me of this being a scam, and identified the phone number and sent me your link. Does have my phone number from the craigslist ad but nothing more. The text basically stated that they would buy the item and send me a check or MO and wait until it cleared to make arrangements to pick up the item. In the meantime, they wanted me to delete the ad and would pay another $50 for holding until my money was cleared. The item they called on is $500.
Okay we fell for this today too. They have our # and address which worries me a little. Did any one report these #!@ wholes? If so who did you contact? How can these people sleep at night!!!!!!!
