Mr Lucas appears friendly however offers to purchase does not try to barter , claims my financials will overnight a check to you first thing tomorrow morning and will get back to you with the tracking details the check will include the money that will be paid to the movie picking up from you once payment clears and have a shipping company pick up , will send extra money for you to pay the shipper warning beware this is definitely a scam as you can see on this list I will try to get as much information and pass it on
For the passer-by: This scam can be either Paypal, or check, but the scam is similar. In the case of a check, the criminal will send you a check over the amount you want. You will be asked to use a cash wire transfer service to pay the 'shipper'. Check appears to clear in 2-3 days, check bounces in 4-6 weeks. In the case of Paypal, you will be sent a fake Paypal receipt, or one that says the funds are on 'hold' until you pay the shipper/ship the item. All fake.
After many text messages I received a check from "Lucas Henson" for some motorcycle parts. It played out just like Badge714 described. The whole thing seemed fishy and I'm glad I dug deeper. Just wondering what to do next. No harm done (to me anyway) at this point.
Very simple. Just take the check to your bank - DO NOT deposit it! - and ask the bank to examine it. It'll be fake so you can then turn everything over to them, the police, but! try to get more information out of the check sender. Name of their 'shipper', their address, their phone number. Tell the person you're going to call them. Try to get as much info as you can. In dealing with scams, it all helps. Scammer often reuse information. Names, address', etc. so it'll help the next person.
