Yes, same spin here as well. They call asking for the second oldest male and our household show we have one and they need to be between 18 and 34 or something like that. I said my son won't do their survey and if I put him on the phone he'd be angry with me as he hates these phone surveys. They then asked if this is a bad time and I said no, he won't answer their survey at all and to take us off their list.
Guess what, you guessed it....THEY KEEP ON CALLING!
By the way, the CDC is located in Atlanta so why are they calling from VT.!?!?
I would advise everyone to not answer their questions.
I am also getting numerous calls a day on my cell from this number. I called the number back on a private phone. The msg stated they were conducting a survey for the CDC and to press 1 if I wanted to continue the survey. I went on the CDC website and found that you have to be a "selected" participant and looks like some one sends you a brochure. They also said that a government employee would be conducting the survey. As I dont give out my cell #, I am wondering how the "gov't" got my cell #? This could possibly be a scam trying to abstract personal id info. Surely a gov't employee would leave a msg, right? I would say BEWARE!
I let them go with their pitch and the questions were NOT based on Health in which I told him so, the man stated that "I know but I have to get this information before we can proceed further. The questions were posed in which I believe is deceptive phishing methods, how many phones do you have, how many Land lines are there, how many cell phones do you have, is this a private residence? I then told him that I was not available to continue the call.
I just received a call and they said they need to speak with the 2nd oldest male in the household. I said that was my son and he's sleeping right now and I won't wake him up. He asked when would be a better time and I said that my son was not going to want to do a survey. He said, very rudely, "Well, I would have to confirm that with him ma'am" to which I responded, in the same rude manner, "Well, I'm his mother and what I say goes". He then asked me, even more rudely, "Is he an adult ma'am?" At that I hung up the phone.
I receive calls from this number several times a week, all different times of the day. Today I answered and just sat there for a while because there is usually no response to my several hello's. Finally a man came on the line and said he, "was calling from the CDC... you know, the Center for Disease Control" ....(no, really?) He said, "my number was randomly chosen for a survey of health conditions in the gulf area." I told him, no thank you, I'm not interested in participating and to take me off their list. He then said, "but we would like the answers to our questions." I said, well, I would like to be taken off your list. He then wanted to know if he could call back later. This is just a guess, but I bet they keep calling. I'm wondering if filing a FTC complaint is a waste of time.
