Today ...This lady called and didn't give a name just asking if she could speak to .....and I replied this is she....you have an outstanding debt of $200 dollars is there any reason why you haven't paid...I told her the reason ...she cuts me off (screaming).....this is a totally separate bill....you need to pay by 4 o clock or else! well ma'am what happens at 4 o clock if I don't call you back to pay im just asking bc the bill is not that old and shouldn't be in collections. She says " I will report you to blah blah" .....I say ok well can I talk about this later for I am at work and your attitude is rude and unprofessional. she hangs up on me. If she would've been more professional I prob wouldn't have a prob with doing what I have to do to take care of the debt but I don't do too well with nasty people who call and are rude.
That person posted here in 2011, 5 years ago. Why would you ask a question of someone who probably knows as little or less than you do?
If you want to know how to deal with a debt collector you should go to the people who can give you the correct inforamtion:
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
