I get calls from this number but when I ask who they are, they always give me a different company name.  They ask me who I am!  They want information and I think they are trying to identity theft me.  I told them today that I am reporting them to the authorities for continuous harassment.  When I ask them questions, they hang up.  I think they are identity thefting people who give them too much information.

Caller spoke quickly said they got my number from my dad's caregiver (idk how they got her number because the only people that contact him thru her are myself, doctors, and insurance). I confirmed with caregiver, she gave my number because they said they have a financial matter with my dad. Asked for my name, then tried to transfer me to someone else, THEY CALLED ME!!! Told them I would not give them any info unless I get info from them first. She said she had to let someone know that I won't give her info and hung up.

Why don't they provide anything in writing? How do we know they are legit?

ts highly doubtful the poster you replied to will answer since it posted clear back in 2011. The forum doesn't send out reply notices.

By FDCPA law, they are required to send a dunn9ng letter within 5 day's f the first call which should contain their info as well.

To File complaints FDCPA/TCPA violations:

***A company must be licensed in their state as well as the one they are trying to collect in if two different states are involved.

Some Tips:
*Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time, date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.
