Same message. I called back. Said it was a litigation matter. Did not mention from who or for what. Gave me the wrong last 4 of my social. Told them that they were way off. She responded with "okay I will send your 2 felony warrants to the DA" and she hung up. Too funny. Send someone to my house and I'll send my dogs out to greet them.
Received a call today from this number, voicemail is as follows:
This is Nancy Free(sp?) with pre-trial intervention, we have a case that needs your immediate attention. We need to speak with you or your attorney of record immediately today, my number is (number mentioned above) If I do not hear from you or your attorney, I will document that you have waived your right to counsel and submit your case. Govern yourself accordingly."
Caller does sound legitimate and speaks very good English, without an accent.
So, this is garbage, no attorney or office has the right to waive YOUR right to counsel, only you have that right to waive counsel - whether you talk to them or not, that is also your right to not speak to them (i.e. self incriminate). That's red flag 1, red flag 2, did not mention me by name and the tone is threatening, uses vague terms "you, we" so they can gather info on who you are if you bothered to call them back. Red flag 3, if you have a legal case against you, a legitimate one, they don't call you, you are served with the court appearance information and whatever they are taking you to court for. This service cannot be by phone, it has to be by certified mail, process server, or sheriff's department, depending on the laws where you live.
Do not fall for these scammer tactics. They sure try their best to sound scary and menacing, but it's all a load of crap. Dont' believe me? Give them a bunch of fake information if you answer it, and see how the conversation turns. :)
Same message as above but I connected with a person who said they have legal case against me for a on line loan I did in 2013 that wasn't paid ? I said I didn't and that even if I did it should of been included in my bankruptcy... at that point the called said it wasn't for the loan but for the bad check.... and it's a felony.... and my attorney can't help me....but couldn't tell me the original creditor... weird pretty sure it's a scam
I just received the same call 4 hours ago and let it go to voicemail. They did not mention my name or any other information that it was actually for me.
The same. I called the number back after listening to the female. I stated someone just called this number and rambled off something about a private investigator. She ask my name which I did not give and she came back with some off the wall name. I told her they have the wrong number. She said my number would be removed from their database. Yeah right.
