I got a call from a person assuming to be an Officer Tom Riddle (this is Voldemort's name - from Harry Potter) from the Crime & Investigation Department. This is a scam - they are probably fishing information for identity theft. DO NOT REVEAL ANY INFORMATION. The last words he said was "You will be arrested today!". Sure. What a moron.
Got a call today saying that I had an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to respond to a legal case against me (which is completely false). Said his name was Max Wilson which sounded fake and he had a Indian accent which he was trying to hide (I could tell pretty easily since i'm Indian myself). He said that he was working for the legal division of NJ criminal investigations but was located in their Michigan office. This is an obvious scam, I would completely ignore or just give them fake information to mess with them.
Got a call saying there is an affidavit against me. Fake. Can we not complain to the phone company this fake guy is using ? I am sure they can disconnect his number.
They called back again today and when I told him I was going to call the cops on him, he started cursing at me for a good 5 minutes (I didn't hang up simply because it was amusing).
I simply blocked their number through my phone company (I checked my phone logs online and he has tried to call back more than 5 times in the last hour but can't get through lol). I would advise you to do the same.
