Everyday, maybe twice a day, we get calls from this number ...or "Private Caller". IF you pick
up, there is a pause before someone clicks in... a telemarketer format. Today, a woman
started to speak, and we pressed our automatic button that states, "I'm sorry, this number
does not accept this type of phone call, please remove us from your call list." Or, something
to that effect. That keeps us from getting emotionally involved. These units used to be
for sale years ago, but haven't seen them in recent time. It simply plugs into the phone
jack in back of phone and is activated only when the button is pressed. We call it "the finger" !.
We suspect it's the "timeshare" folks as others here have identified. We own timeshare and
telemarketers are trying to get us to sell it ... if we cross their palms with $ XXX dollars up
front ... of which you shall never see again. In other words, this is a SCAM artist at work.
Perhaps the FCC needs to get involved with this one ? ? Anyone know how to successfully communicate that to them ?? gmj
I called the number back, and its a digital switchboard for a TekSystems, and references the outgoing number from there national call center relating to Tampa, FL. So unless you recently posted up your resume on a job board with them. Then more then likely that's the case, but not the guy I spoke to was from India. So what you could interpit as a cold call for sales may actually be an employer. I will say they did leave a message, and for the record Federally a company can't contact and not disclose who they are prior to continuing the call. So simply, when you call back ask them to identify themselves, if they lead with something that they aren't then hang up and you can report the the FCC & FTC.
