i had the same thing happen! they keep calling, saying that i didn't pay back a pay day loan and tmm they're filing a suit with the sherrif dept in my county and having a warrant issued for my arrest. they said that i should have my lawyer contact them. i said to go ahead, bc i've never had a pay day loan. the woman hung up on me. the nxt day i called back, just to verify it was a scam... you nvr know lol i was afraid maybe my identity had been stolen... m i asked for monetary amt, and info mailed to me. they said they emailed me info. i said i wanted paper info sent to me, as im not paying for a lawyer for nothing... to see what they said. they hung up again. lol first off, law suit or not, they can't have a warrant issued for your arrest for not paying a bill. they have to file for a court date. and if you don't show up, you still don't have a warrant.. they just rule in favor of the credit card company or wte... redic how cheap ppl are. hope this helps someone who bugged out the first voicemail lol relax its fake!

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:
