Most haven't a clue why the DNC was created and the only sole purpose of its existence. I too have never received a call from any legitimate, registered with the FTC's DNC Registry as an American based telemarketing business. It functions as was intended when created but not as so many think it is supposed to work.

Thanks Tamianth for posting these links. We do need to do more than just complain on 800notes or sites like these. We do need to get involved in continually complaining to our senators and so on. There is definitely an attempt to start something to penalize those that do this type of thing but it remains to be seen if it will work in the long run. I don't even so much as pick up the phone if I have no idea who the caller is and in the last couple of weeks the spam calls have only increased.
That's obvious, I don't recall anyone ever saying by signing up will mean all unwanted calls are going to stop. The ones who seem to think it would are likely the ones complaining about it. It'd be nice if people could see it for what it is instead of what it isn't. I don't believe I ever got any honest telemarketing calls before I quit answering the phone. The sole home improvement calls I got were for security systems and most know what those are. I'd say it works fine for what it was intended to.
