Americredit as far as anyone here is concerned is a legitimate business that offers loans to many individuals. Unfortunately they also excel in harassing those that need not have to do with anything else. I co-signed for a car with a family member and sadly her car was stolen, trashed, but luckily recovered. Since we both agreed to have GAP insurance for the car prior to leaving the dealer the day of purchase, we felt secured and safe that the car was going to be taken care of. Well the whole mess started with them calling me like banshee's asking for the car back the day it got stolen. I loved that call, two women from americredit calling me telling me to release the car. Why are they calling me? I don't know where the car is its with my family member. One Particular lady and I duked it out on the phone she came close to saying some racist and cussing remarks but she refrained, just yelling. I told her that I had her in speaker phone and that all of the conversation was being recorded. She still persisted until everyone around me began laughing at her. Well the calls persisted that day until i got a hold of my cousin. She explained to me that the car was stolen and that the highway patrol had found the car. Relieved of the news that the car was recovered I explained her my side of the events from americredit. She called them and sent the information of the report and the contract to them. They stated everything would be fine and that they apologized about the matter. Later on the calls continued, and again, and again, and now its close to a year and 8 months since the incident, yet they keep calling. Seems that I should have been at the scene and should have had my name in the report made by the highway patrol. I know its stupid, so I made a seperate report and had my name and her name added resent the info to Americredit and the GAP insurance company and still the same crud as always. Finally I dont answer there phone calls anymore let them eat it the situation and good luck ruining my credit, its locked out due to all the theivery in identity theft and cannot be opened or manipulated outside of me allowing it. Trust me I know americredit has been doing this but is unsuccessfully. Those [***], but look I don't want to trash on the whole company I have spoken with some really sweet and conscience people. Others there are like Rottweilers and Pitt bulls ready to pounce to get a dollar from you. But there are those that make the company a real hell hole. I hope that someone that works for them reads this... Its time to put aside the bs and to realize that harassment will be met at an extreme level. I am prepared to fight them legally if necessary and to do what I can to smear and tarnish there name all over. I will not be pushed, stamped, filed, indexed, briefed, debriefed, and numbered. Like Patrick McGoohans character in the prisoner.

Sorry to say, but you are responsible for the loan if your son doesn't pay.  That's what happens when you co-sign anything.  Legally, you are responsible.

Just got a call from them on my cell phone and no message left. I have never had an account with them. My truck loan was with Chase and has been paid off for over a year. I am not a co-signer on an auto loan either. Why would they be calling me?

Got a call from this number.  Message left for someone with a code number.  I have never dealt with Americredit, never cosigned or had a loan with them at all.  Not even sure how they got my cell number.

I was called and no one spoke so I Googled the number and wound up here. I called them and it was AmeriCredit. Someone had used me as a reference and they were calling me to collect a bill. I told them not to call me anymore.
