Bill Woods, a telemarketer representing Woods Home Repair, is on the phone. He says he was following up on a call from last March and was seeking any home improvement projects I wanted done. I told him I did not recall that and asked him again what company, he replied with a different name, Woods Home Improvement, a family owned business started by his father 22 years ago he said. I told him I wanted more info on the company, and he said he could send someone to my house that would have their license, bonding and insurance details. I said bring it to me.
About 6 minutes after that first call, a woman named Henrietta using same caller ID and number said she was from The Home Center, confirming an appointment today at 1:00 pm. She said she noted that they had called 8 times before in March 2015, and I asked not to be called again, and she wanted my permission to send someone out. I told her I did not recall any such calls and asked the name of the company again, and she said Southwest Home Center. I told her again I had no such call from a company by that name. She then says this is a new company, but could not explain how she had records of calls from 18 months ago if this was a new company.
I asked for a website and license information, she says they took down the website last December after people posted nasty comments on it (impossible, a lie), but they were currently recommended by Yelp. I told her I wanted to confirm they were a legitimate business, and she said her estimator would bring license, references, and insurance info with him at 1 pm. I asked for a call back number, and she gave me 818-208-4981. When I called, it was disconnected or not in service, a fake phone number. Checked Yelp, no such company listed. Checked CSLB, only one company with similar name in West Covina License # 911275, but not active or able to contract.
Just got my second call from this number in a week, and again no message left. Caller ID says it's from Sherman Oaks, California. Telemarketers don't leave messages because they know you won't return their call.
