A call from this Van Nuys VOIP number arrived today. When the call rolled to voice mail, the caller left no message, just dead space. This is typical of robocallers (illegal telemarketers) who use automated dialers to place calls.
According to several posters (see above), this is a scam home improvement contractor, of whom there are many, including fly-by-night operators. Some have had their contracting licenses suspended and are so desperate for business they stoop to illegal telemarketing methods to woo customers. As Anonymous (see above) notes, foreign call centers are often used, engaging operators who speak poor or broken English. These are the same guys calling from "Microsoft tech support" to report "a problem with your computer."
According to www.whitepages.com this Van Nuys VOIP number is suspected spam. I'm sooooooooooooo surprised!
ID says Sherman Oaks and this caller tries every single day hanging up on machine. All out of empty slots on my call blocker or this one would be blocked. Seems to be a typical robo call with speed of hang up once it senses answering machine picked it up.
I received a call today from this man looking for Mrs Price. Said he was a handy man. I told him he had the wrong number then he proceeded to tell me twice "For you own good be smart". Is this a threat? I am going to report this phone number to the police if he calls again.
