Just received a call with exactly the same details as the person listen above. Told him the only hacking was the one he would be trying on my computer.
Same thing as Lowell. I am trying to figure out if this is a scam. I don't want to call them back until I know for sure. They keep trying to call me. Have called 4 times today. Anybody know if this is a scam?
Just got a call from "Andy Beck" at this phone no. Also East Indian accent. Same message. Was trying to walk me through some steps to "fix" my computer. Then gave me my computer ID no., which I haven't verified. Wanted me to press the window key in conjunction with the "r" key and of course some other steps.altho he gave me the above no. as a call back, phone ID listed no. as 800-266-2266. I suspect it's a scam, but don't know.
This clearly is a scam. Like everyone else, the Indian accented man said that he was from the Windows Service Center and that my PC was sending error reports to him. I played along to see if I could get any information that could be used to report them to the FTC. Finally, after he said that it was urgent and that my PC was sending immediate urgent message to the service center at that time, I told him that he was full of sh*t - I use a Mac, not a PC. My only hope is that since I answered the phone this time and made clear that I was not falling for their scam, maybe they will stop calling me. Some days, it's been a dozen or more calls within a few hours. It's outrageous.
