If true, there should be zillions of posts on this thread from zillions of credit card and job applications (HSBC is a huge international bank) between 9 Sep 2011 (date of first post) and now but I count only 7 excluding this post. My guess is it's a robot collecting numbers on people who will answer calls from numbers they don't recognize to be sold to telemarketers. Beware of shills on this thread.
