Good and informative comment, and I hope others posting comments on this number read it. There are loopholes in the laws that allow bogus charitable organizations like this to operate, yet Congress won't do anything about it. These loopholes were undoubtedly put in place due to lobbyist groups who bought themselves some politicians. When money is involved, the average citizen cannot be protected from scamming predators.
I, too, have received numerous calls from these people and from CCI (850-542-8779) which is also for "cancer donations". I suspect that these "causes" are the same parties under different names. Just for the hell of it, I do my answering machine imitation asking for donations to send me to Washington, DC - they usually listen until I get to the "donation" part, then hang up. It takes a few times, but they eventually get the message and leave me alone. I do not donate to any phone solicitations, BTW.
