They are FSU students working for the FSU Foundation and it is that time of year to solicit donations. They just called me tonight. http://foundation.fsu.edu/about/phone-center. They call me because I'm a graduate and previous donor. They have never harassed me nor called at inappropriate times. The link I posted here shows the number and contacts. If you have a grievance or are just a plain a**hole, then call the manager or director and complain. But don't post false or dimwitted comments here to scare away those that may want to make a donation to the Foundation. Some of you individuals and your comments are pathetic and untrue. And yes I am biased because FSU is my alma mater. So rag on me and not these students working through college and promoting their school!
You obviously work for the company, otherwise how would you have ended up on this page?
You can donate all you want, but don't tell the rest of us what to do. Most of us are still paying off student loans and employed in the dying, underpaid field of education.
This is the number for the Florida State University Foundation. The foundation contacts current senior students, parents, as well as alumni.
The foundation calls these people in the interest of hopefully raising funds for things like scholarships as well as many other programs that are offered to the students at little or no charge to them. They do this because many of these things would not be possible without the support of generous people who are willing to donate to the college.
The foundation's hours are mon-thurs 6-9pm and sundays 1-8:30pm. Never will someone receive a phone call from this number after nine pm unless it is a very special circumstance. They call at these times because those hours are most convenient for the people they are calling.
The people calling you are actual students. They have certain guidelines they must follow, and this includes not leaving a message. There is nothing worse than being treated badly for doing what you're told. We are people to, you know. Working for money to pay for things like rent or other expenses.
If you don't want to be called anymore or aren't interested in helping out your school (whether you have graduated or not), tell them to take you off the calling list. It's that simple.
And if you are interested in helping the students out, great! We could use the help (as well as a conversation with a nice, polite person for once).
Also, the foundation qualifies as a not for profit organization, which is why they can call persons on the do not call list. They are trying to raise money for academic programs and scholarships. Not for athletics. And not for the alumni association.
