They are FSU students working for the FSU Foundation and it is that time of year to solicit donations. They just called me tonight. http://foundation.fsu.edu/about/phone-center. They call me because I'm a graduate and previous donor. They have never harassed me nor called at inappropriate times. The link I posted here shows the number and contacts. If you have a grievance or are just a plain a**hole, then call the manager or director and complain. But don't post false or dimwitted comments here to scare away those that may want to make a donation to the Foundation. Some of you individuals and your comments are pathetic and untrue. And yes I am biased because FSU is my alma mater. So rag on me and not these students working through college and promoting their school!
LOL! All of these posts are really funny to read. I am currently recieving the same calls from FSU constantly. There annoying yes, but nothing I can't handle. I know that if I just pick up the phone they'll stop calling, but i'm lazy in dealing with them at this time. Plus I would like to donate money to FSU but I don't have the funds yet (still a student). My dad graduated from FSU with his Doctorate so it's all love for FSU. Problem is...I have picked up the phone once before and talked to them and told them the deal. A semester later...I'm getting calls again. lol So it seems to me that picking up the phone with stop it but only for a short period. However, I am glad FSU contacts me so when I am able to give, I can. Most if not all of us have had great experiences at FSU. Forget the fact that we paid for it...we could of choose another routs to go other than FSU. Support your school and pick up wether you can donate or not.
Got a late call from 850-644-1080. The caller ID indicated "State of FL- DMS". Its been a really long time since i've been to FSU. Kinda proud that they could find me but I've now got my own kids to put thru school so a donation is way out of the question. Helpful little msg board!
From experience as having worked as one of their callers, you CAN tell them to remove your number & they won't call you until the next cycle (unless their system has changed). I don't think there's a way to permanently remove your number. Try not to be rude to the students because like I said, they're STUDENTS trying to earn a little bit of money while in school. Yes, they are in school.
If you don't have the money, simply tell them that. They'll understand, and it will remove you from their calling list.
You wouldn't like someone yelling at you at your job, so why do it to them. I do agree that 9:00 p.m. is a bit late to be calling though... especially since I don't know them personally.
You all should really donate to FSU. You will increases the value of your degree. Not only is your money used to improve FSU's facilities and pay salaries, but you will also help improve FSU's ranking in US News. US News uses the alumni donation rate (the percentage of alumni who give back) as a measure of satisfaction with the school.
Also I know some people hesitate to donate because they think their money will be spent on sports. Wrong! If you give to the FSU Foundation, NONE of your money goes to athletics. There is a different organization, the FSU Boosters, that is responsible for supporting athletics. I donate to both organizations, but I understand some people think college sports are a pointless endeavor.
