Keep getting calls from 856-229-9193 claiming to be from Google with a warning that somehow my customers won't be able to find me unless I do something. I pressed the number to be connected to someone. As soon as I started to ask her what this was about, she hung up on me. I called back and got a recording to press 1 to be removed. I did - we'll see.
Calls me daily, finally answered and went through to a person. Asked them a buncha questions person said "glad to help! One second please." then hung up.
What's hilarious is that one of the services my company offers is SEO. Legit SEO, not "pay us thousands of dollars for the #1 spot on Google" scam SEO but "implement these changes and appear higher in relevant searches" legitimate SEO. These people know this and, yet, they still call me daily.
[***]. As others have said, they're calling about my business. It started before I officially registered it, actually. I think it was linked to when we made a website or something similar.
I got one of these calls and pressed 1 to talk to someone. I was mad because I thought at first it really was Yahoo/Bing, and why were they calling me when I only just submitted my site last week, didn't set up an account, or provide a phone number. I insisted on being provided with more information about who was calling and the purpose of the call before providing any info of my own, but the guy kept asking me questions about being the business owner and my business telephone number, etc.
Finally he gives me a URL and tells me it's associated with my phone number -- I flipped, said the URL was a random one from my site, an article from 5+ years ago, and why would that particular URL be associated with my phone number??? So then I said I can't understand why Yahoo/Bing is breaching my privacy like this, he said he's not from Yahoo/Bing but another company. He told me the name of the company but wouldn't repeat it when I asked, and wouldn't give me the web address either. Then I was told I was wasting his time, so I asked to speak to a manager and he hung up on me.
