Does it do any good to call them back over and over? I get different replys....sometimes busy signal, sometimes the "press 1" message. Sometimes I get verizon telling me number is no longer in service.
This caller keeps calling and when I answer it just says 'bye' and hangs up. They call 4 or 5 times a day. Its not ok. When you call the number back it says to press one and remove your name from the call list. Here is the number:
When this number comes up and shows "Survey", I get my pen and paper ready and stick by the phone. Sure enough, the phone rang 5 minutes later with "Consumer Services" / 404-381-1115 shown - WOOHOO - GAME ON!
I agreed that I had CC debt over $2000 and that my percentage was over 9%. When asked, I gave them the phone number on the back of the card, last four digits of my SS#, expiration date of the card, and the card number itself (ALL fictitious, read back slowly and written down in case asked for again- hence the pen & paper). When the CC# comes back bad, I read it back, changing a '3' to an '8'. When asked to repeat the card phone number, I read "1 800 National Do-Not-Call Registry". Slight pause (I could almost see her mental wheels turning), then CLICK from the operator. I do feel a little guilty, as I think I probably could have wasted a smidge more of her time. Oh well, next time...
Not answering, hanging up, trying to keep up with constantly changing numbers with a call-blocker all don't fix the root problem - these folks are disregarding the DNCR and will continue until their business is no longer profitable. I've decided to help them find a more ethical (and maybe even legal) way to make a living. PUNK DA' PHONERS into oblivion...!
