They are trying to trick you into switching you electric suppliers by ANY MEANS.
Please report them to your Electric Supplier as Sometimes they say they are from your Electrical Supplier.
The DO NOT CALL LIST is for Companies that follow the law.
I would not listen to any promises from Presidential Canidates to reduce these calls.
Their was a statement about reducing Government would help enforcement of these Callers or going to having a private company handle these compliants.
The problem with that is it MUST be a Federal Offical that procutes these calls due to the laws.
The Only Thing is that No Federal Agency has been given the LEGAL power or LEGAL authority per a person at the FCC.
The FCC person told me the FTC handles it and the FTC says the FCC handles it.
This means we need a few senators to summit and pass a bill to which agencies go after the offenders, the FCC or FTC.
Then hire the Federal staff or transfer the Federal staff to take these cases to court. The Companies are now using United States Landlines or Cellphones, but calling from Other Countries to avoid the laws. We need to give the Authority to the Federal Agency to Block these numbers.
The local officals said they have no authority to go after these companies when they are calling from outside the United States using United States landlines or cellphones NO MATTER WHAT LAW THEY ARE BREAKING.
I dont know what these dumb people hope to accomplish by calling repeatedly and not saying anything or calling again AFTER telling them your not interested. I dont really care how many times they call, i just simply delete...delete.....delete....when i see they called or left a message. If i answer and they happen to talk, i just give them the run-around and waste their time.....then i tell them that too. :)
Called last night said they were with bge i laughed said i am not with bge asked me who i was with ... said well if you are truely from the electric company you would know....and hung up. They called back today said they were with delmarva..... same number... said i am NOT with delmarva try again... they kept on telling me to get my electric bill all they needed was my info ... I laughed told them to not call back again.
Startel is a call center owned by Starion Energy. I do not know what else they do and the calls also concern me. I am a Starion REP and they call me too. Quite annoying but I think they get around the Do Not Call List by getting numbers from the Utilities. Technically, if you do business with a company, (Everyone uses electricity) they can provide third parties your number even if you are on the do not call list. Starion is a legit business outfit; they are an alternate electrical supplier in all deregulated states. You can lower your electric bill with many of these companies. I am saying shop around; find the best price because deregulation is not a scam. I do not agree with the methods this person is using but it is not illegal. Since they are a utility company and strictly regulated, you will not be asked anything other than your name account number and if you are over 18 and have the authority to make a switch. Obviously if you are asked anything inappropriate or personal or were treated rudely, I would either ask for a supervisor or if in your opinion, illegal, file a complaint. I apologize for our company if anyone has been harassed because the majority of us are just like you and respect others privacy, that is why we do not telephone or cold call. .. My 2 cents
