Received a text message "Your Attention Is Needed. Please Contact B O A 860 248 4915".
This is a scam to get personal info. When you call the number they claim to be Bank of America and say your ATM card has been compromised and you need to provide personal information to certify your identy. They want social security number, DOB, etc.
Do not call BOA at this number. Call the number on your ATM card if you have concerns.
Same as above - TEXT Message received Jan 28, 2016 at 7:28pm. Says to "Please Ring - 1-860-248-4915." Strange verbiage, Please call is more American English. Obviously scammers not from USA.
Why is this legal? The national do not call list is REALLY a national CALL LIST, because everyone on the list is a valid # to call, text at your expense, and torture. Since they can't legally be stopped, perhaps there are other means. Ideas and thoughts?
Here is what you really need to understand. Millions of Americans are being called by FOREIGN 3rd world criminals. They are using computers, high speed internet, and voip to spoof (fake) their caller ID and then call you. By law all phone companies in the USA must put a call through to you. That's why, even if they provide the service, you have to block a call. Not them. As far as going after foreign crooks. The US Justice Dept. needs the cooperation of that countries Government. India & Pakistan are known offenders. You will note that their Embassies are still open & the US still has an Ambassador there.
