You can get devices that block up to 1500 numbers including whole area codes.  Some of the new ones out even cover unknown name, unknown numbers and Private name & number.  They run 60 or less.  Google devices..

Caller ID said "Connecticut" with some girl saying "hello, hello"?.  I picked it up and said "NOT NOW -- DEREK JETER IS UP".  Then I just hung up.  Bet she doesn't get that too often.

Got this call at 8:30 this morning.  Caller ID said "Connecticut."  When I answered, the woman said "Wow, you're harder to get a hold of than (unintelligible) in a pickle jar!"  (???)  Said she was looking for donations for Children's Cancer Center.  I said I don't donate randomly to someone who calls me on the phone that I've never heard of.  I told her to send me some information and I might consider a donation.  She then transferred me to someone (after a 45second delay) for "verification," and that person asked for my credit card number!  I told her I don't give my credit card number over the phone to someone who calls me, but if she sent me some information I would look at it.  There were so many people talking in the background, I could barely hear what she was saying.  Needless to say, I won't be sending any money.

Called, let it goto the machine, no msg left.

This number is still at it in March 2015.  Got a call today, came up as Childrens Cancer on caller ID and I let it go to the answering machine but no message was left.  I have no idea if this is legitimate or not, but sadly I have to assume it is another sick scam, or one of the less honorable charities.  This number is blocked now on my Call Blocker device.  I pick and choose the charities I donate to and no longer give donations to anyone who calls out of the clear blue.
