These fake "geeks" call daily. Over and over. Today it was a foreign sounding woman.
Wanting to fix my computer. I told her to fix her own computer and never call me again
or I will report her to every agency in this country.
This guy called me and I answered. He said he was from Microsoft and my computer had a virus. I said I don't have a computer. He said but your computer has a really bad virus. I said i know youre a scammer don't call me again 'cuz I don't have a computer. He called me back. The first time I answered and my mom said tell him leave me alone because I'm a minor so I did. And he calls the last time and I didn't answer because I didn't hear it.
Second call from these jokers. Said they were from Microsoft and wanted me to go to a non-Microsoft site to have my computer fixed remotely, as a bot had infected my machine and was sending out spam. I asked how they could tied my machine to my phone number. The answer was some convoluted crap that I registered my number when I registered on their server. Yeah.
I'm six classes away from a degree in Cybersecurity from UMUC, and I'm going to give some stranger with a heavy accent remote access to my laptop. That'll never happen. I block their number on my phone.
Strong Indian accent. Said he was from Geek support & asked if I was the registered owner, instructed me to pull up the "Run" box, then to enter "eventvwr" command. I asked how he got my #, he said "ma'am, are you not the registered owner? This is a free service to protect your computer" I asked if this is a scam, he lowered his voice and said "ha ha ha" then hung up.
I got a call from this number a little while ago. Said he was from Microsoft Technical Support. Wanted me to go to my computer right away because of a technical security risk. I asked a few questions. Got strange answers. Suspected it was a scam and this site verified it. If he calls again, I will mess with him too.
