They've been trying to get a hold of me from different #s for the last three days (at least I'm guessing, I've gotten three calls from 860 area code). I'm supposed to be on the DNC so this is really frustrating. Finally answered today and the guy said "I am American tech support and call about your computer" and I immediately hung up.
Got a call from this number. The guy claimed to be with a computer support company that provides support for my computer. I'm a computer professional and I know I have no such support. When I asked, "What about my computer?" he started saying "For the last couple of weeks, your computer...". Oddly, he stopped after a sentence (which didn't sound like a question), then he hung up.
This is one of those computer support scams where they say your computer is slow or having some sort of problem which they will fix for a fee. They will have you go to a web site and/or install software which lets them directly access your computer then they will screw with it. What they are effectively doing is breaking your computer then holding it hostage to 'fix' it. Don't fall for it.

I received a call from 860-875-4569 on my cellphone. The caller said he was in computer support department and wanted to confirm that I still use a Windows computer. I said I didn't. He seemed upset that I don't use Windows (although I do) and he hung-up. I don't really feel bad about lying to him.
