They called this morning at 9:15am - we no longer answer calls that are not local to southern California. The 864 area code is S Carolina so we figured it was a scam-telemarketer. Thanks to 800 notes, we figured correctly.
We have now blocked the entire 864 area code.
They can change telephone numbers but if they call from the "864", they are BLOCKED.
For us, blocking entire area codes works the best.
We don't have friends or family in S Carolina and we don't have business associates there, so we have blocked the entire area code. Sometime, scammers will change a few digits in their telephone number and that will get them around a simple call blocker. We have the Di*it**e call blocker, it works great and STOPS the scam callers from across the USA.
Our phones DO NOT ring (not even once) when these criminals call in and our home and office is not disturbed.
For peace of mind - please purchase a blocking device that can block entire area codes. These devices are inexpensive.
Currently we have over 170 area codes blocked - the 864 is now on that list.
