This number 872-333-2494 (Caller ID showed CHICAGO, IL) called back on my 2nd landline just an hour after calling (see above) on Line 1. This time I answered the call and it was a scammer trying to sell pain-free medication. The recorded presentation (a female) started right off referencing something BCBS had determined about medications and the way she worded her spiel left the impression she was hoping that you would thing it was BCBS calling. Pain-free meds were available to those under age 65 (they apparently don't want the Medicare crowd - penalties are too great for scamming seniors). Press 1 to confirm your name and address for a shipment of the meds and press 5 to let your health care provider know that your were receiving them. It's sad that there is a group of naïve consumers who fall for this crap and create a market for these scammers.
Answering any unknown call only perpetuates them. We no longer keep our answering device on.
If no one ever talked to these telemarketers, surely they would stop. Of course the phone companies providing them with those disposable numbers doesn't help.
