I just started getting these calls and I will call the FBI on them and I am also telling them I am recording the phone call. This way I have a record of the voice and the caller so it can be turned
over to the FBI and your local District attorney's office.
This number came up harassing people and they say it is from Pittsburg -new castle.
I am in agreement you should tape record call and tell them you are doing this and that this is harassment and contact the FBI and then call your local District attorneys office. I aslo would call your local phone company and see if you can block this call.
Anybody else recently apply for a car loan through rategenius or lendingtree? They are the only ones I can think of that I've recently given my info to since all this started.
This number called me 20 times yesterday, 15 the day before and twice so far this morning and it's only 8:52am. The 1st time i called this morning i just picked up the phone and left it in the counter. The 2nd time they called I answered it. The guy on the other end, knew my name. He said I applied for a loan. I told him I didn't apply for a loan. I also told him that I verified I'm on the do not call list provided by the federal government. I also told him, if they don't stop calling me, I'm going to make the federal government aware of what he or his company is doing. He immediately said "OK, I'm sorry" and then hung up.
Easy fix but I wouldn't have known this was fraud if I hadn't of looked up the # here first.
I keep getting calls from this number as well as from other numbers, all of which I have found out to be scams. DO NOT give them any information and DO NOT let them bully you into thinking you owe them any money. They all give American names but have heavy Middle Eastern/Indian accents and are very hard to understand. They will never tell you the name of the company just that they are with the legal department or law enforcement office and threaten you with a lawsuit and to show up at your door or your place of business. They wil offer to settle for a portion of what they originally claim you owe! DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM. I have reported them to local police, FBI, Secret Service, FTC, Attorney General for my state and to my bank fraud department. I hope they all rot in hell!
