As usual, these "phone numbers" are a ploy and why our US Gov't doesn't do something to put an end to it is beyond me. But of course, our "do nothing" FCC, who monitors the "Do Not Call List",nothing ever gets done. Both my cell phone and home phone are unlisted but still these hackers find a way to get into them! I have changed both numbers twice in the past year and still I get these constant annoying calls at all hours of the day and night. I suppose not having a phone is the solution. I even considered UHF mobile phones but it is rare that someone would have one for my transmissions as well as my creditors or family members to communicate with! Even trying to block these calls is almost impossible. When will it ever end; probably never most likely!!!!
Call after call, hang up after hang up - finally got someone with a heavy Indian accent, very broken English, insistent, something about Microsoft and my computer. I played along, pretended to be firing up my computer, asked him all sorts of questiions about what should appear on the screen. Finally got bored, told him I was recording the call (legal in my State). He told me to f* myself (and he spoke perfect English when cursing at me) and hung up on me!
Yes, this is definitely a scam. I fell for it as I was having virus problems. I found this Windows Virus Protection Service on lined, called them and went thru their process. A week later they called me saying I have problems. Showed me the same errors and I begin to go...uh oh I've been a fool. They tried to get me to pay to renew my license with Microsoft which I knew was a scam so after about 20 minutes I got rid of him. Took my computer to my local service man and am safe now. They call themselves ET Solutions. come to think of it had I been awake...E T as in Extra Terrestrial...outer space guys
I've been having fun with them the last couple of days keep them talking for a couple of minutes then tell them I have to get my "service dog" because he does the work on the computer and ask if they want to talk to my dog.....obviously Do Not Call isn't working had to make a game out of it!
It appears your understanding of the Do Not Call list is ... faulty. Here is a short summary of the facts, using small words to fit your intellect:
1. The DNC list is NOT a call blocker!
2. The DNC list is used by honest telemarketers, to avoid calling people who do not want to be called.
3. Scammers and spammers do not care ... those criminals call anybody.
4. The DNC list is NOT a call blocker! (Just in case you missed reading #1)
