These people called one relative who gave my # to another relative, who in turn called me with the information from these people. They claimed they were with Hershey Kemp Law Firm and I was involved in a lawsuit. I think I would know about a lawsuit that I was involved with long before a distant relative in a distant state would find out. These people are bottom feeders, and are in no way legit in what they do.
They somehow got my grandparents phone number being very rude to her telling her that I owed them money for something. She said they did not even have the right birthdate. I have recieved several scams from things like this and I do not know how to get them to stop.
I company been collecting statin I had a online loan n didn't pay it, they had all my information and I assume I paid it... Since this was many years ago I wasn't clear on if it did pay or not... If I didn't pay I would be supeona to Court to serve time in prison fr unpaid debt. I been payig since January and this months payment I called to get a few extra days cause I couldn't make the payment on time due to my funds and they were tellig me to borrow or I'll go to jail.... I told them I was gonna get a lawyer then cause it's not fair how they won't work with me for this one time payment and they insisted a lawyer couldn't help n I'll end up in jail still.. So mad I just hung up and they havent called me yet... But after reading these comments I'm worried if I was scammed???? Any suggestions on what I should do???
The number had a 323 ( Los Angeles ) area code, but they always said they were two hours ahead of me??? And I live in Los angeles
Back in May they called my best friend and my mother threatening legal action, court and all that. I am happy to report that the calls STOPPED once I talked to Kenneth Sledge and informed him that according to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) he is LEGALLY OBLIGATED to provide me with written proof of the original debt from the original account.
I went the extra mile when I was informed of the harassing calls, there was nothing on my credit report, the client they claimed they were collecting a debt for had no record of me ever being a customer so I don't know everyone else's situation but I thought I would let you know my situation with these low lifes!
TELL THEM WHAT THEY ARE DOING IS ILLEGAL, REQUEST ALL LEGALLY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS, DON'T BE INTIMIDATED!!!! I am guessing that if you inform them of the legal requirements according to the FDCPA they realize you aren't going to be suckered and they will leave you alone.
