We are on a Do Not Call list which used to work and now there are so many irritating calls. It seems no one is enforcing the list. I wish these criminals could be thrown in jail. I answered the call this morning, there was silence, then they hung up. Suspicious, so I came here to report.
Today was the third call... The lady who gave her name as Kate, insisted it wasn't a sales call. She said that someone was attempting to take control of my computer and they have a software program to fix it. Today I listened to the caller and I could hear lots of background noise. I asked if this was a sales call and she insisted they were trying to help me by downloading a program into my computer and to upgrade my windows program. I could barely understand her but I asked for her name and phone number and she provided the name Kate with a phone number of 901-290-7209. I asked for the name of the company and I couldn't understand what she was saying so I asked her to spell it. She very slowly began spelling out I, E, X, P, L, O, R, E, T. When she got to T, I hung up. Almost instantly a call came through from the municipal police department asking me if I called 911 and what was my emergency. How did they do that? The police had to come and when they arrived, I explained what happened and they said it was some sort of scam. I'm not sure what this means as far as any further problems that may arise. They obviously took control of the phone line. Well I guess they did?
I have had numerous calls from these people over the last few months. I have reported them to local authorities and also to the FBI website. They are always very rude and pushy. The number that came up this time was 800-861-5241, and they gave me a call back # of 901-290-7209, which is a TN number. The lady claimed to be Rosy with "I Explore Tech" and that I have "malicious on my computer", which of course doesnt make sense. Please be careful and dont give them any information. I know I sound like a crazy paranoid person, but it could possibly be terrorists, hence the middle eastern accents from every one of them!
