Call from 904-515-0433 was a telemarketer saying I qualified for a trip to Orlando and Miami and a cruise.  Would not even listen when I said my number is on a Do Not Call list, hung up.

There is no "Emily" nor headset problem
Big time SCAM to get you to say YES to ANY question, which is then edited to place your Yes answer where they need it to begin charging you for whatever the scam of the day/hour/minute may be.  The sweet voice of "Emily" or whatever name is used tomorrow, is a pre-recorded spiel.  When the spiel hears a Yes after it concludes part one, or any part thereafter, you are transferred to a "closer" who will never give up trying to get you to agree to their phony trip.  And I mean never.  Plus that closer creep now has your phone number, your address, and your name.  DO NOT TALK TO THESE CROOKS: YOU CANNOT WIN NOR OUTSMART THEM NOR GET OFF THEIR LISTS.

Your number was randomly dialed by a computer program outside the U.S. which will keep calling every few days at about the same time until you pick up the phone. If you don't answer, it changes the outgoing number (and the spiel and scam) and keeps trying.  If you still fail to answer, it repeats the attempts just about forever.

Get Caller ID and Call Blocking and an answering machine or service.  Learn to use the Mute Button on your phone so the caller can't hear you; it gives you valuable seconds to determine if the call is legitimate; and if that strange empty delay at the beginning occurs, you can hang up instead of repeatedly saying, "Hello" because you think it might be a friend.  And definitely use the approach of Earl in the Pickles cartoon when he says to scammers, "Go ahead, please. You're on the air" if you accidentally do get connected. And then do not say another word. BUT THE BEST APPROACH IS TO NEVER ANSWER UNKNOWN CALLS IN THE FIRST PLACE. If the caller is legitimate, he or she will leave you a message.
