this sounds like a call from an illegal auto rotater dialer. thse things can call every number in the US in a single day. I have to wonder if this is the latest number being used by one RAN DAVID BARNEA whose telemarketing activities out of Florida are the subject of some very interesting internet blogs. I suggest that everyone do a Google search on this name---you will have some interesting stuff come up on your screen. You will quickly learn how powerless and irrelevant the Federal Trade Commission and the Florida attorney general's office are when it comes to dealing with lowlife money grubbers such as the ones on this number.
This is a credit card scamming operation. They call with a computerized voice asking to press "1" if you want a lower percentage point on your credit cards. Basically you will be prompted to press "1", get connected to a live person. When I mentioned my number is a do-not-call number, she hung up before I even got all 3 words out of my mouth. Being a rude as she was, I decided to call back to get more information so that I could collect the $200 they now owe me according to the FCC (maybe it's $1000 now?). The phone never rings, and instantly goes to a fake "this number has been disconnected" message in an attempt to throw you off the scent. The message is really laughable when they begin to talk slower like the "real" computer-generated disconnect or number-changed messages. I assume that if I would have played out the call longer, they would have asked for my credit card information in an attempt at identity theft. It is obviously a scamming operation, but the number is very real. The "no longer in service message" is clearly a fake.
I received the same call several times. It is a call about reducing creit card interest. These people are extremly rude. The caller refused to give me their name or company or a real phone number. They wanted my credit card number and became even more rude when I refused to give it. When I asked to have my name removed from their call list, they slamed the phone down. This has happened to me several times by the same phone number.
Is there any way to stop these people?
