I got a call from Number 908-458-6829 today; when I asked to speak to the manager he clearly gauged his voice and said hello. I told him you are lying and he hung up. BTW, he said his name was Steve not Kevin. I sarcastically called back and asked him to help me crash my computer, and he hung up right away. I do think he is one of the scammers. He also claimed to be calling from Microsoft Windows.
Thanks for your comments on this regards as I had the same call and I believed them. They did not fix my computer and they installed their temporary password via Team Viewer. Now I don't have access to my PC and they got $324.00 from my credit card. Warning
Obviously, you gave them your credit card number (a BIG mistake). You had better cancel the card NOW, as the $324.00 which these criminals got from you is 'just the start'!
Got a call saying I had errors after my computer was being SUPER SLOW. The guy was pushy and loud and I believe Indian. He just kept calling me Ma'am and never by my name or anything. Sometimes it sounded like he was in a large empty room with a bunch of people since it sounded hallow. He didn't like that I was delaying and asking questions. When I said I wanted a 1800 number to call them back on to confirm it was Microsoft he hung up on me.
"Ryan" called me back after and told me I had hidden programs are affecting my computer's hardware and software that will cause it to crash and I will lose my data forever. Hidden programs are connected to all the sites I browse and these programs are downloaded from going to the sites supposedly (News to me).
He wanted to show me my computer id to confirm it was them and did have the ID. He also knew my address and obviously my phone number.
He told me they will connect me with Windows Technical Support to fix it and that they would remote access my computer at no cost to me. He said he was with the IRS (International Routing System) a representative of Microsoft's Security Department.
I kept browsing and searching up all the things he said to me and Kept seeing SCAM and whatnot so told him I was not proceeding farther and he politely let me go.
Not 100% sure it was a scam or not but sure pushy and unnerving that they knew so much information (except my name apparently haha)
