I checked out the website of the company used by the scammers... Cashadvance.com. The website appears legit and they offer extensive info on fraud with multiple links to reporting scams. They offer a variety of ways to report scams...
In addition to the FTC, I've filed a complaint with my States consumer protection. I encourage everyone to do the same. Remember we figured out this was a scam, but how many people are going to be losing money. We need to help each other...
I received a call from this number. The person (who spoke broken English with a heavy Indian accent) told me that I had not made payment toward a loan his company made to me. When I told them that I had not applied for, received, or authorized a loan and there was no deposit of funds in my account, the caller put his "manager" on the line. The manager then became extremely vulgar using inappropriate language of a sexual nature and threatening me. The man refused to give me the name of the company he was calling from, continued cursing and using vulgar language. I told him I would report his number to the police and the Better Business Bureau, then hung up.
