This a rental Scam! How can we found out the actual "real" owner of this number. He has done this now too many times with too many people! If we all ban together maybe this can be stopped! Please reply here if somebody on this message founds out the identity and if they did anything with authorities. Thank you!
Most likely overseas scammers. Hard to say. Most likely spoofing local numbers. You can make a complaint to your local police or sheriff's department. If you do, make sure you go in person and bring a copy of this thread. LE may do nothing, but at least they can notify the local media of this scam and then the community.
Never attempt to rent property from someone sight-unseen. Never wire rental deposits or any funds to someone you do not know. Never pay any funds in the form of untraceable instruments. Never pay by cash. Always demand a walk-through of ANY property you want to rent and hire a local licensed real estate broker to assist you in the rental negotiations. Costs a little more,but will save you in the long run.
